“Strengthening Ties: Dr. Taheri Joins Meeting Between Spanish Ambassador and Iran Chamber President”

The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture of Iran stated that facilitating the issuance of visas for Iranian merchants introduced by the Iran Chamber will lead to the development of trade cooperation between the two countries.

Samad Hassanzadeh mentioned this during a meeting with Antonio Sánchez Benedicto Gaspar, the Spanish Ambassador to Iran. He added, "In addition, we have requested an increase in the duration of stay for the issued visas. Currently, Spain issues visas for one week. I hope that the duration will be extended to allow for business activities."

He noted that the volume of trade between Iran and Spain has been very minimal and does not reflect the capacities of both countries. "Spain is one of the important economic countries in the world, and Iran and Spain can have broader relations in trade, especially as Iran has significant capacities in the fields of food industries, petrochemicals, mining, steel, and more, providing a foundation for joint cooperation between the two countries."

Hassanzadeh emphasized the importance of continuous and close relationships between the chambers of commerce of Iran and Spain in enhancing trade relations. He stated, "The Spanish embassy plays a vital role in fostering close cooperation between the chambers of the two countries, and I hope we will witness the embassys active involvement in this regard."

He also pointed out Spains high capabilities in establishing solar and renewable energy power plants, saying, "Iran needs solar power plants and welcomes the active presence of Spanish economic actors for joint investment in this field. In return, Iran has good capacities in petrochemicals and the establishment of refineries and the export of petrochemical raw materials, and we are seeking joint cooperation on this basis."

A New Chapter of Relations Between Iran and Spain Is on the Way

Antonio Sánchez Benedicto Gaspar, the Spanish Ambassador in Tehran, also referred to the significant role of the Iran Chamber in developing the countrys domestic and international trade relations, stating, "Spain is interested in developing cooperation with Iran, just as we see a similar interest from Iran. This mutual respect has overflowed into the commercial and economic sectors of both countries."

He highlighted Irans importance in the region and its abundant natural and human resources, stating, "Spain has the fourth-largest economy in Europe and is the fifteenth-largest economy in the world. Although Spain has fewer natural resources and a smaller population than Iran, there is considerable potential for cooperation between the two countries."

The Spanish ambassador to Iran noted the low volume of trade between the two countries, saying, "The trade volume between Iran and Spain is 300 million euros, which does not reflect the reality of relations or the capabilities of the economies of both countries. Unfortunately, the main reason for this is the restrictions on financial transfers."

He emphasized that we must have a future-oriented program and objectives, adding, "After the JCPOA agreement, the trade volume between the two countries was about two billion dollars. We remain optimistic about the future, and Iran and Spain, along with Europe, will begin a new chapter of relations under the presidency of Masoud Pezeshkian."

Bendito Gaspar stated that Spain has always kept its trade relations with Iran open, adding, "Spain is committed to the peace process in the Middle East. We are on the brink of a new era of hope and can experience significant economic growth."

He stressed: "The private sectors of both countries can collaborate in various fields, including agriculture, ceramics, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and tourism, through joint investments, experience exchange, and the establishment of joint companies."

The Spanish ambassador to Iran indicated that Spain is ready for joint collaborations, saying, "Our aim is to find suitable areas for cooperation and to develop ties through a third country. We must enhance trust between our two nations and prepare for the beginning of a new chapter in our relations."

Regarding the visa issuance issue, he mentioned, "If Iranian traders are introduced by the Iran Chamber, we will certainly strive to expedite their visa issuance process."

At the end of this meeting, Mohammad Taheri, President of the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Iran and Spain, also mentioned the upcoming specialized exhibition in ceramics and tiles in Valencia, stating, "My proposal is to send a delegation led by the President of the Iran Chamber to visit this exhibition and subsequently arrange for a meeting and discussions with the presidents of the chambers of Valencia and Madrid."

This proposal was met with enthusiasm from the President of the Iran Chamber and the Spanish ambassador.
